This skin I'm in...

Does anyone else hate the task of shopping for skin care as much as I do? For some reason it is so overwhelming to me...WAYYYY too many options. How do I know I am getting my money's worth? And is the product really going to do everything it says it will?

So, after many months of sampling different products, talking to friends about what they like, and multiple visits to Hall's and the Nordstrom cosmetics department I finally found the perfect regimen for me. Here is what I came up with...

DAYTIME:

My friend who buys beauty products for a living recommended the Murad anti-aging, blemish control line. Not that I have acne, but I do deal with the oily factor. I really love the cleanser and the SPF 20 moisturizer for day. It is light, not oily at all, and apparently it has seaweed which prevents sun-induced signs of aging (which I do have...sad, but true). Cleanser is $30 and Moisturizer is $46

I have been searching for the perfect light coverage foundation for a long time, and I think my search is over! I have fallen in love with Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer. It is so sheer, but just dark enough to give you some good coverage and even out your skin tone. It also has SPF 20, which is wonderful if your moisturizer doesn't have it. $42 at Nordstrom

EVENING ROUTINE

At night I love to cleanse with Cetaphil's Daily Facial Cleanser. It is unbelievably gentle and it removes makeup without a fight. No scrubbing your face!!! You also can't argue with an $8 price tag.

I discovered Kiehl's Acai damage correcting moisturizer through my friend Gigi. She had tried it and couldn't believe the immediate results. I have to agree with her, I could feel firming in my skin almost instantly. I also have noticed that some of the dark spots I got (during pregnancy) have lightened up on my face as well. You can use this day or night, but I am using it in the evenings. I think next I would like to include the Acai damage correcting serum as well

I have been using Kiehl's Avocado eye treatment for about 8 years and I really love it. I don't think I will convert, because I feel like this cream works really well. It is affordable (compared to other eye creams) at $25.50.

But, my friend Maria who works for Laura Mercier let me test their Flawless eye cream and it is AMAZING. It is a super soft, but concentrated cream and it has a time release formula that works through the night. If it fit into my budget, I would maybe reconsider. $75 at Nordstrom

  2. Uncanny Mel! You basically have my exact regime. Murad cleanser and moisturizer, Kiehl's for under eye and Laura's flawless face makeup.

PS - Cetaphil also doubles as the best makeup brush cleaner.
