Looking ahead...

July means 2 things. 1) crazy summer clearance on clothing 2) Fall clothing starts to roll in. For me I feel like it is the hardest time to dress as well as shop. You are torn between great deals on summer items, and yet you aren't quite ready for fall but know that it would be a better investment. This is the time of year when I like to scout out great transitional items.

As we head into August, there are a few things that I am looking to help transition my wardrobe. One would be stripes and the other would be layering. I think stripes are an easy year-round pattern and can add a little dimension to your solid wardrobe. Thankfully, even as we head into fall I am still seeing a lot of them! The slub jersey stripes by Splendid are some of my favorites. They have great color combos in all of the pieces, and I really am attracted to the longer length (great to belt, or if you are prego these would be cute too!) The tanks are great for layering under any cardigan or sweater in fall.

It's also a great time to invest in some lightweight Jersey cardigans. I live in these all year round, and I have really worn through last years version. Splendid has this amazing cotton thermal that is super soft and cozy...



I also am loving the ribbed long cardigan.  Do we love this yellow? I think so!

    I'll just take one of everything you put on there. I LOVE Splendid tees! I was so happy to find them at Pea in the Pod- but they are still a little big- maybe I will go with these new ones...

    I love cotton cardigans too, although I hate this time of year for fashion! I can always appreciate good prices, but I hate the between season sales! Even though I won't need any fall clothes 'til November at the earliest, I'm so over summer clothes already and want to stock up on sweaters that I won't really ever be able to wear!

    So true!! I have been all over the banana republic sale... But I've been a good shopper and sticking to jeans and cardis ;) I'm a sucker for a good sale!

    Hate hate HATE the dog days of summer. Fall is my favorite time of year (you can be SO much more fashionable in layers, can't you?). I think the two things on my transitional list are a very lightweight sheer cardigan - TRES cool, and that little sequined breton stripe shirt from The Crew (but you already knew that)!
