Skittles...

We don't have to put our colored denim away for fall, hurray! I love this trend, and I think it will be fantastic for fall with chambray shirts, cozy sweaters and your favorite boots or flats.

I saw these adorable Zip Pocket colored skinnies by Forever 21 and I immediately thought of a bag of skittles...love these colors. And for $24.80 they are totally worth a shot...

1969 was a good year.

This was the year Sesame Street Debuted, The Doors were in their prime, my mom graduated from High School and a small company called "The Gap" decided to open a store in San Francisco.

Since 1969 The Gap has evolved, expanded and developed into the empire that we know today. But, what has always remained the same is their dedication to denim. They may have strayed into other areas...shoes, accessories, lingerie. But, if we look back, the Gap is who brought to the forefront jeans that are affordable, stylish, and for the masses.

But, over the past 10 years the Gap's denim was not looking too hot. Enter Patrick Robinson, the Gap's new executive V.P. He saw that their denim was failing, and the fits were not where they should be. He did a major overhaul. He introduced a more "premium" denim that would compete with the 7 For all Mandkind, Joe's and Citizens of Humanity jeans...at a much lower price. The average pair is $60. In this recession, they have really found a window of opportunity for those who want the look of those jeans, but can't shell out the $200 to get them.

I personally have been on a search for new jeans, and, I really do not want to spend $200 on them. I have probably $2000 worth of jeans sitting in my closet, most of the rises on them are too low, or I am not crazy about the wash anymore. I figured, why not check out the Gap? I had heard good things about the new line, so I decided to try them on for myself. I have to say, they are pretty amazing. They feel like premium denim, the fit is great. I personally love the Real Straight-lower rise, slim through hip and thigh and straight leg opening.

and I am sure you have heard they have kids premium denim now. We got our little guy a
pair this fall and I absolutely love them. They were $45, which is high. BUT, they have an adjustable waist and come really long, meant to be rolled up. But as he grows, we can just unroll them. They are fantastic, and the wash is very, very cute.

Here are some of the Toddler girl jeans...I love the skinny white pair!

J is for....JEANS!

I really have a love/hate relationship with Denim. When you find a pair that fit PERFECT, it's like love at first sight! BUT, there is nothing worse than trying on 20 pairs to find that glorious pair of made-for-you jeans.

I was even a denim buyer for a few years, you would think that I have the inside scoop on the best jean. Really, when it comes down to it jeans are kind of like makeup. Everyone looks so different in them, it really depends on your body type. With that being said, I do have some tried and true favorites. And, as a buyer there were certain pairs that stood the test of time, and generally appealed to many women. Here are just a few that I personally love!

They call this the "booty fit". It is made to fit a girl with curves (which most women have) and they actually are smaller in the waist and a bit higher in the back. I have these in multiple colors and they now even make a straight leg in this style. They are probably my favorite jean. 7" Rise and around $180

CITIZENS OF HUMANITY AVA STRAIGHT

This is by far my favorite skinny jean. They are 8" in the rise, which isn't SUPER low and over the years they haven't stretched out so much that I am constantly pulling them up. Around $150 on shopbop.com

CITIZENS OF HUMANITY KELLY BOOTCUT

If you like a good, clean boot cut jean, this is the one for you. 8" in the rise and they always have an amazing range of washes to choose from. They don't have too much "whiskering" which can make you look bigger in the thigh or butt. Around $150 on shopbop.com

HUE SKINNY JEANZ LEGGING

Ok, now don't laugh. The picture looks terrible (they aren't that faded on the front!), but these are honestly the  most amazing denim legging. Amy from The Huntress Lives turned me on to them and they are SPECTACULAR. They look like a true jean, with 5 pocket styling and everything, but they are a legging! Best part, they are $34!!!!! ON HUE.COM

PAIGE HIDDEN HILLS

I do not own these, but they are next on my list to try. For those of you SICK AND TIRED of low rise jeans, but don't want a "mom" jean, apparently these are the one to get. They have a 9" rise (hurray!) and Paige has a great selection of washes and their fit is tried and true. $190 on Paigepremiumdenim.com

What is your favorite jean?
