Cheap and Chic

It's always great to find a dress that you can wear casually during the daytime. This little striped number from Old Navy will get a lot of mileage this fall. I can't wait to wear it with tall boots or my favorite flats.

I got it in the Navy/Red combo...which color do you like best?

Cheap and Chic buys of the week

With Fall on my mind, I am starting to pick up some transitional items in my shopping excursions. I just snagged up this adorable military jacket from Old Navy. Again, picture does not do it justice. It has Orange trim, and it cinches at the waist to give you a fabulous feminine silhouette. The ties on the inside are also orange! $39.94

And I am obsessed with these sleeveless blouses also from Old Navy. I own this pretty minty green color, and also the white. They look great alone and will be perfect layered under sweaters and blazers for fall. They remind me of the Equipment sleevless blouses that retail for almost $200.  The Old Navy version is currently ON SALE (online only) for $17.50!

I love both so much, I used them in a news segment this morning talking about Transitional fashions...with all items under $100!

Cheap and Chic buy of the week...

This weekend in Missouri it was tax free shopping (any apparel under $100). It's a no-brainer time to do some back to school shopping. We hit up H&M where we found some really cute things for the kids. But, you know I couldn't resist a little something for myself. I got this fun Peplum top for....$14.95. Unbelievable right? It's such a steal for such a cute top. It even has a big exposed zipper up the back. Love it!

If you want it to be yours, I would go soon...I bet these will fly out the door!

Cheap and Chic: Fave drugstore makeup

I am typically not a drugstore makeup kind of gal. Not that I have anything against them, I just hate not being able to try on the colors! As you know, how it looks in the packaging isn't always how it looks on.

Then, the other day I decided to give a Revlon lipstick color a try. The packaging caught my eye (kind of similar to Chanel, no?) and the colors looked decent. I bought the Colorburst Lip Butter in Cotton Candy. It's a soft pink that definitely is more sheer. But it's the perfect everyday color. $6.50 at Target.

I liked the lipstick so much, I decided to get some glosses. These are the colorburst glosses in Strawberry(left) which is a really pretty watermelon pink. And then Hot Pink on the right, which is definitely a HOT pink. It's more of a color I would wear out in the evenings. Also around $7 at Target

I am also loving their nail polish! I don't think I have bought Revlon nailpolish since high school. This color is called Minted. $4.99

and if you follow me on Instagram, you would have seen this color I posted. It's called Cherry Bon Bon and it's scented! For real...it's kind of wild. I found this at CVS in Chicago, haven't spotted it here in KC though...

What do you think of Revlon? Yay or nay?

Cheap and Chic buy of the week...

I come to you with yet another great find at Target. Meet the Bandini Bra. It's a 3 in one bra that is the most comfortable thing EVER, and for all you nursing Mom's it's the perfect strapless bra (no wires!). I wore it to the Bar Method last night under my sports bra and it was perfect. It doesn't offer much support (for those of you who are bustier) but it's SO comfortable, you barely know you are wearing anything.

You can wear it Racerback, One Shoulder or with both straps down to make it strapless. They come in a 2 pack at Target for $15.99!!!

Frugal Friday...

Transitioning seasons can be a total pain to dress for. That's why I like to find a few budget friendly items to get me through early spring. I was perusing Forever 21 and found some really great items, all under $30. My favorite are these tomato red skinnies with zipper detail! So cute, no?

Cheap and Chic: Early Spring finds...

Has anyone else been to Old Navy lately? They are really stepping up their game this season. I would even go as far as to say that some of their pieces looked a bit like J.Crew. If I weren't prego, I would have snagged up a bunch of items. So far, I have only purchased this...which happens to be long enough to cover my belly...

You could get a great jump start on your Spring wardrobe and not have to spend a fortune. You know I love a bargain! Here are some of my other early-Spring faves...

Charmeuse Dress $34.94 (with some great accessories, this dress would be fantastic!)

Cheap and Chic: Mossimo Paz Sandal and I found a bikini!

I hope everyone had a long, fantastic weekend! I am still recovering from late nights, 2 very hot days in Atlanta and too much of my Uncle's fabulous cooking. We had a wonderful time, I will share some pics later this week.

My cousin Megan had the most adorable shoes on that I too had spotted at Target  but they were missing my size. They are the Mossimo Paz sandal and retail for $24.99. She was wearing them with shorts and a blouse and they couldn't be cuter. I may have to order them online!

Oh and good news, I found the perfect bikini! Thanks to Sally at a Piece of Toast! She directed me to the solids by Mossimo that are hidden on the back wall of the swim section. I got the teal bandeau and the teal mock-side tie bottoms which are surprisingly not skimpy at all! Both pieces are $17.99 each. What a bargain! And the color is fantastic (beter in person than in the pic)!

Cheap and Chic

One of my favorite brands at Target is Converse One Star. I always seem to find something there that fits just nicely into my wardrobe. My newest purchase was their Super Soft tunic top in a shade of Navy. This top is like the most comfy sweatshirt you will ever own, except it actually has some shape and style to it.

I laughed so hard when my friend came over for a playdate and we had the exact same outfit on...the tunic top and black leggings. I really am bummed I didn't buy it in more colors, because it has been my go-to these last few weeks. It looks great over leggings or skinny jeans.

p.s.-these pictures don't really do it justice, it's much cuter in person. And, I think they just got marked down too, so if you want one I would get to Target ASAP!

Why do they tease?

For those of you that live in Kansas City, you may have noticed the HUGE Forever 21 that has been "opening soon" on the Plaza for about the last year and a half. They told us it was going to open this spring, and now it has been pushed back to late August. I am so anxious for it to open, so that I don't have to trek down to the mall to get my Forever 21 fix once in a while.

Rumor is that this store will also carry the kids, maternity and men's lines. Is anyone else as excited as I am?!

Here are some pieces from the Love 21 line that I am dying to try on. Looks like some great transitional items...

Belly Love...

Oh girls, I am SO EXCITED to see that Forever 21's contemporary line, Love 21 now has MATERNITY! Finally, another option for all my pregos out there. Now, it's pretty basic at this point, but I would bookmark this page. You never know what they might be adding to the line in the next few months!!!!

A pregnant woman's best friend...the maternity legging! 12.80

I lived in cardigan's like this my first pregnancy...Long slub cardigan $19.80

What do you all think? Will you be shopping Forever 21 for maternity?
