Guest Post: Sarah from Apparently Obsessed
Thanks so much to Sarah from Apparently Obsessed for guest posting for me while I am on vacation! Sarah has sophisticated style, with a sensible feel. She is also a Kansas City mom, and posts about great things for kids (especially little boys!). Here is her Fall 2011 lust list...
I am SUPER excited to be guest blogging on Scout today. Big thanks to Melanie, who was a real-life acquaintance, became a blogging friend and is now a real-life friend too!
Compiling my Lust List was a treat...and gave me a chance to take all the Fall trends I am seeing and bring them to (real) life. Here we go!
Manly Things. Masculine is a big trend for Fall. And while the pantsuits and ties are a little much for my every day life, something we can incorporate is a great loafer. And I love this "Glenda" Loafer from Lauren by Ralph Lauren. The perforated trim is a nice feminine touch and you can never go wrong with black patent.
Hippie Chic. LOVE this trend. Channeling my inner Zoe is right up my alley. Can't wait to pair these Citizens of Humanity "Hudson High Rise" jean with a wedge and a silky blouse. This will quickly become my go-to going-out outfit.
Geometric Prints. I have always been a stripe girl. They are kind of geometric, right? But I adore this polka dot scarf by Marc Jacobs. So great to pump up a simple t-shirt and jeans or as your go-to every day scarf.
Bags. We got new backpacks every year, right? So a new handbag seems fitting. Personally, I think a handbag should be a classic shape and color - something that can last a few seasons and trends. I cannot stop thinking about the capsule collection Sofia Coppola did for Louis Vuitton - classic speedy shape, rich colors, top handles AND a strap! While this leather one is beautiful...
Look at the gray suede! Love that it will get more relaxed and broken in with use. (Unfortunately, this is pretty much sold out everywhere so it will have to remain a lust.)

Colored Pants. We saw a bit of this trend last year but it's sticking around. And again, not really my thing. So I plan to add my pop of color on my lips. Mac's Brave Red is perfect. It's a creamy muted red with a bit of a sheen. It's very dewy looking and feels nice on the lip. It's a great entry in to the "red lip" look that is also pretty popular right now.

Spring Lust List: Molly from A Piece of Toast Blog
And here is the other half of A Piece of Toast Blog, Molly! Molly has babysat for my nieces and nephews for years, but I recently have gotten to know her through the blog world and strings of emails. I wish her and Sally still lived in K.C., because even though I am almost 10 years their senior, I believe we would have a great time together. So, without further ado, here is Molly's spring lust list....
MY POOL LUST LIST
I lust after so many things.... Especially in the spring - it really can't be helped. But whatever it is (my biggest vices happen to be clothing and jewelry) there are several questions I ask myself before adding items to my "lust lists". I have to take a step back and really consider do I want this or do I need this. Sometimes wants outweigh needs. Sometimes I think and dream about an item for a few days before going back to a store or website and taking the plunge. Sally and I have a rule: if we can stop thinking about it and it sort of feels like life or death, get it, love it, and don't look back.
So since I've been thinking about pool time for the past two months, I have had the time to really asses what I want and what I need in preparation for spring (because don't be jealous, but spring time in Texas means pool time - visitors are welcome any time).
Here are a few of my needs:
Madewell straw fedora hat
I need this. For whatever reason I finally believe all the stuff my mom has been telling me about how harmful really is and no matter how much of a sun worshiper I am, I need to be safe. Not sure if I can pull off this look but I think it is more classic than hippster and I'm going to give it a try!
Havaianas flip flops
My Tory Burch flipflops finally bit the dust after 3 years of rough wear. Pretty excited to toss them and get a fresh and bright pair of Havaianas - which are wayyy more comfortable than the TB ones anyway :) in my opioion
Essie canyon coral
Ehhh, ok, I have tons of nail polish but I honestly feel like I am lacking a solid coral color worth of summer toes. Need.
Some wants that I may have to convince myself of:
J.Crew swimsuit
As far as I'm concerned, the J.Crew underwire swimsuits rule the pool. Whether you are small chested (like me) or have a little extra, they are so flattering and wear amazingly well with sun and chlorine. However... I've gotten a new one of these every year for the past 3 years... Last summer I was really bad and got 2 (I'm not lying, I really do think they are they greatest). But these nautical classic stripes are calling me. Maybe if it goes on sale?
Jake Spade Tote
This is my serious summer lust item. I realllly want this. If I was a full time nanny mcshanny and I knew I would be spending all of my hours poolside with kids for the summer I would buy it in a heartbeat. But, I wont be spending all of my daily hours outside - just weekend days. So can I justify the price for the offerings? I mean, it's not that it's just Jack Spade and classic as all get-out - the bottom half is dipped in rubber latex for serious durability... Lust, lust, lust!
Stayed tuned to see if I satisfy my wants and needs for the pool... And a big thank to the always amazing and sweet Melanie for inviting me and Sally to guest blog!!

Spring Lust List: Sally from A piece of toast blog
I am thrilled to have both Sally and Molly the sisters behind A Piece of Toast Blog guest posting this week. Sally babysat my son Julian for the first year of his life, and we miss her dearly; as she has moved to Dallas. I love her slightly bohemian/preppy style, and I was very much looking forward to her lust list for Spring. Here are Sally's top 5 items for Spring...
With spring comes many exciting things: longer days, beautiful weather, fresh flowers, brightly painted nails, and last but certainly not least: concert season. This May I am heading to the beach with a group of friends for the Hangout Music Fest (http://hangoutmusicfest.com//). Three days of good music, good weather, good foods, and great friends is my idea of heaven. There is nothing that I love more in the spring and summertime that going to outdoor concerts and music festivals. Now, with this concert coming up in May also comes a certain kind of wardrobe. You can't wear just anything to a three day music festival and outfits must be carefully planned for comfort as well as some serious hipster cuteness in there. I have already been scoping out my picks for the upcoming concert and am dying to share them.
I love this block print tunic by Calypso and I think that it would look so perfect with a pair of light chambray shorts I got from Anthro last summer. These Free People shorts are absolutely screaming my name. Just the right amount of girly. I think I would throw a baggier grey cotton t-shirt on with these and my longer box chain necklace and call it a day. I have been drooling over these J.Crew Quorra sandals ever since they came out, not only would they be perfect for the concert but all throughout the summer as well. But, for those concert days when your feet can't take much more. Havaianas are definitely the best bet! And wouldn't some Essie Punchy Pink toes and nails look quite nice? Especially with a Gorjana leather wrap bracelet, I have been lusting after these guys for-ever. NO day is complete without my Ray Ban Caravan sunglesses. I own too many sunglasses for my own good, but these are my absolutely favorite pair. I can't go anywhere without them! Lastly, a purse to hold your things yet not get in the way of dancing, drinking and eating. I love a cross body for concerts and my Marc Jacobs Petal to the Metal bag I got last year will be perfect.
