The witching hour...

I call 3:00 PM the witching hour. Nap time is usually coming to the end, it is the home stretch of the day and my exhaustion is reaching a peak. The one thing I want to do is grab some bread and peanut butter and shove it down my throat or even worse...SWEETS! It's terrible, I know! This madness has got to stop or I am going to have to invest in bigger jeans. Thankfully my friend Susan just gave me a quick and easy shake recipe that is satisfying and both Julian and I love it.

I use 1-1/2 cups of Greek Yogurt. Greek Yogurt is SO good for you and has more protein and less sugar than regular yogurt. It also has live, active cultures to support healthy digestion

I use 1-2 TBSP of Agave Nectar-this adds a little bit of sweetness to the shake and it has a lower glycemic index than honey

I added about a cup of 100% pure Coconut Water-My mom swears by this stuff! It is supposedly natures re-hydrant that replaces electrolytes and is higher in potassium than a banana.

throw in any frozen berries that you like, blend and serve! As we head into the holidays, it's always good to have one snack around that is good for you :)

here is Julian enjoying his shake while being mesmerized with Yo Gabba Gabba!

  1. 3:00 until bedtime is totally the witching hour. I never know what to do with Sterling and I am always tired and hungry. This afternoon I devored cheese and crackers, a cookie and carrot salad. That smoothie sounds great and way healthier than my snacks!

  2. I am just like you! Thanks so much for posting this recipe. I will be heading to Whole Foods tomorrow and grabbing these goodies. =)

  3. Glad to know I'm not alone! I think I probably consume 1/2 of my calories between 3-6. And then STILL eat dinner b/c I spent time cooking it and feel like I "should." This will definitely be making an appearance in our house this week! Thanks!

  4. Great smoothie recipe...always the easiest way to get fruits and veggies in my kid's bellies!

  5. ditto! glad i'm not alone, i'm so good all day and then hit a tiredness wall, everyone's grumpy and i devour any chocolate i can find! I will definitely be trying this as I love all those ingredients so thank you!
