chic eats...for the kiddos!

Last week Christi from P is for Party posted a link to a fabulous website via her FB page. I clicked and immediately fell in love. Modern Lola is another great kid focused website. Everything from clothing, to decor, hair accessories, toys, cool bath stuff and great mealtime accessories, all with a modern twist.

If you are very particular about everything in your home looking ultra cool, than this is the site for you. They have products that can make your child's meal time seem chic! The first item that caught my eye were the storage containers...these might make me actually want to heat up leftovers!

And how about this set of small melamine plates...these would definitely spice up the children's table at your next holiday gathering.

Who doesn't love Sushi? If your kids want to try out chopsticks, these are GREAT!

And if your little one is a fussy eater, they won't be able to resist this...

Simply Divine

I have been searching for the perfect pink nail polish for the summer. I wanted something not too neon, and not too fuchsia.  I happened to be at Target (which now has Essie and OPI!) and I was hoping to find something by one of those lines. Nothing was hitting me, so I perused the cheaper lines as you never know what you might find. To my delight, out popped this amazing, watermelon shade of pink by Sally Hansen. EXACTLY what I was looking for. It was under $6 and the color is called Simply Divine. It is going to be my signature color for summer...

sorry for this odd picture of my hands, but this is how it looks on...

it is also almost the exact shade of my new favorite cardigan from J.Crew

can you tell I am feeling PINK this season? It's kind of my new favorite pop of color...

Let's give a big blog welcome...

I could not be more thrilled to introduce to you all Mascara Meets Matchbox, my dear friend Mollie's new blog!

Mollie and her gorgeous family

Mollie and I met 8 years ago in Chicago, when we were both working for retailer, Mark Shale. We started at the same time, and the moment we started chatting it up, I knew there was a connection...we had mutual friends, she was from Kansas City (where my husband is from), and embarrassingly, we both loved Britney Spears. In fact, the 2 of us ran to Anthropologie on Rush Street to stalk Britney Spears. Dear lord...I am going to blame it on the fact that I was 23.

Mollie was only at Mark Shale for a few years when she got the opportunity of a lifetime. To buy for Bop in Madison Wisconsin (the storefront behind none other than SHOPBOP.COM!) I was so sad to see her go, but I knew that we would always remain in touch.

And we did. We were both buying, so we would meet up in NY during buying trips. Whether it was lunch, or dinner or just chatting at the shows, it was like time never passed.

Mollie is an amazing woman. She is hilarious, smart, and has always had a keen eye for fashion. Her blog will be entertaining I assure you! Whether it is fashion, mommyhood, adjusting to life in a new city, adjusting to being a SAHM, adjusting to having 2 kids (one on the way!)...it will be a one you will want to follow.

Good luck Mollie, I can't wait to see what your blog may bring.

BOYS BOYS BOYS!

For all you moms out there that have a boy, you know how hard it is to find different, cute, stylish boys stuff. There is an occasional gem here and there, but it takes some time to search out and find the GOOD STUFF. Well, I stumbled across a great line of boys novelty tees, and guess what? They don't cost a fortune!

The line is Wes and Willy.  Apparently they have been around since 1989, but I have never seen them before! I found them on a great boy site called Pure Boy clothes.com. Then I went to their site to see what else they had to offer. Apparently they do pants, jeans, swim trunks and even a girls line!!!!!

The boys stuff is edgier in feel, but not too over the top. I just love the tee shirts...FINALLY a cool graphic tee that doesn't have Elmo & Friends on it...which, let's all just admit there is at least one in the closet!

by FAR my favorite. I am a Minnesota girl, with a love for Hockey.

like the washed out look of this tee...

this screams ADDISON AND FINN! (Julian's best playmates) Gina and Jen...you like?

I do not have links to the bottom 2, but they were found HERE

Such a sucker for stripes and this LaCrosse tee

Great applique, great color.

And for my Scout followers, I did a bit of store research on Wes and Willy. Here is some store info:

Chicago: psycho baby. LMNOP, E Street, Stinky Pants and Von Maur
Indiana: Von Mauer, Pipers in Valparaiso and Fishers
Kansas/Missouri: Von Maur
Minnesota: Doozie, Kids on Division, Banana's, Tangerine at Wildflowers, Von Maur
California: too many too list!

Cheap and Chic: Tar-Jay edition

I am referring to Target of course, but isn't it more fun to pronounce it "Tar-Jay"? You have probably heard that Zac Posen for Target is arriving April 25th. I was SO excited to hear it, until I saw pictures of the collection. Don't hate me Beth! But, I was so disappointed when I saw pictures of the line. It didn't appeal to me one bit.

But, my spirits were lifted when I discovered that there are 2 more designer collections arriving around the same time.  One of my favorite hat lines, which normally retail around $100 plus will be at Target starting April 18th. The designer is Eugenia Kim. She is a milliner out of NYC and her hats are absolutely darling. I couldn't find any pictures of the Target line, but they did have this posted on the site. I am so anxious to see it all in person, I could really use a great summer hat for the pool.

The 2nd line will be shoes by designer Cynthia Vincent. You may know her from her clothing line, 12th Street by Cynthia Vincent. She always makes beautiful things, and it looks like her shoe line will be pretty cute! Really, really loving the wedges and the studded sandals!

I might be there at 8AM on the 18th. Anyone else in?!

It's a love/hate relationship.

Since I wrote about Tracy Anderson a few months ago, I had a big response from my readers. Many of you actually went out and purchased the DVD's. I am really dying to know what you all thought. Do you love it? Hate it? Totally addicted to it like me?!

Well, after doing the same Mat routine for 3 months straight, I am getting kind of bored with it. I also wanted a more challenging Ab routine. My friend Jill was kind enough to lend me Tracy's Post Pregnancy DVD. I am thinking...no problem, I have been working out, this won't be that hard. Ummmmmm, yeah right. I was dying halfway through the workout. I was thinking to myself, how in the world would a woman who just had a baby be able to get through this?

The upside to all of this is that it is a FABULOUS workout. I wish I would have done it right after my son was born, instead of a year and a half later. It is about 20 minutes abs, 15 minutes legs, and about 10 minutes of arms (it's not a very good arm routine).  The ab section is very difficult, and I am a girl that loves sit-ups. She gives you options though, if what she is doing is too hard. You can work your way up to the difficulty level that is comfortable for you. The leg routine will make you angry, you will want to curse at Tracy. But, it gives you that good (bad?) burn that makes you know you are working something out.

I find that I absolutely hate doing this video, but it's hard not to love the results. Tracy isn't messing around, she knows what she is doing...

I would love to know what you all think...anyone else doing the post prego video?

My favorite holiday of the year...

I am so excited for Easter Sunday! Julian is a year and a half now. He is going to have SO much fun hunting for for Eggs with his cousin this year. My parents arrived yesterday from Minnesota, and I am looking forward to a nice long weekend with them. My brother couldn't come this year, as he is headed to Spain for a wedding next week (SO JEALOUS!)

Here are some pics of my little guy from Easter last year...crazy how LITTLE he looks!

Until next week...have a great weekend everyone and enjoy your Easter!
