Are you ready for the Maxi?

After perusing many of my favorite fashion blogs, there is no doubt in my mind that Maxi Skirts are back. It might take them a while to trickle down from NYFW to my suburb, but I kind of want one!

I saved my maxi skirts that are more full at the bottom from a few years ago, but now I want a skinnier knit version. I picture it with a simple racer back tank and maybe a fitted blazer, or just some great accessories. I think they are very versatile and would be so great to run around in this summer. Shopbop.com had some great inspiration...

This version by Splendid can be worn as a skirt or a dress! It's a 2-fer!

and if you want style on a budget, F21 is always a sure bet...

what do you think? Do you love or hate the maxi?

They're Baaaaaaack!

I hope you didn't give your wide leg jeans to the Salvation Army, because you better believe they are back and in full effect. I am kind of excited! Although I love my skinnies, I am ready for a new look and some new inspiration.

I had a request from a Scout reader for some tops to pair back to all these 70's inspired bottoms we are seeing this season. So, here are my pics to pair back to your high waisted, dare I say bell bottoms???

I love the idea of pairing these jeans with something very feminine and soft. I had visions of a beautiful patterned blouse, but couldn't find just the right thing online. So, as another option, something in the must-have neutral shades for spring. Blush, Ivory, Tan, and then pair it with some colorful statement jewelry...

I also LOVE stripes with a wide leg bottom. There is something so nautical and chic about this look...

and the perfect shoe to pair back to all of this? The must-have wedge heel that we are seeing EVERYWHERE this season...

Blizzard=Summer dreaming...

This weather is insane. It's bad enough that we got a foot of snow in one day, but now we have a windchill of -18, which makes it just way too cold to go outside. I feel so bad for Julian, being cooped up inside for 2 days now...

Many hours spent inside, means there is some inevitable online browsing. I can't help but think about warmer weather and linen and swimsuits and the smell of summer. We have a one month countdown to our vacation, it really can't come quick enough!

My Mother in law called (from Florida) and reminded Jonathan and I about a fabulous store that recently opened in Naples called The Island Company. I am sure you have seen one on your travels, or you may be lucky enough to have one where you live.

It's a store that  embraces the warm weather traveler and the laid back beach life...yet, it's the antithesis of Tommy Bahama. No silk shorts or terrible prints at this store. Just beautiful linen in the softest colors, sundresses that are comfortable and feminine and possibly the best variety of swimsuits I have ever seen and at decent prices! I can't wait to visit the store on our trip, I am definitely going to invest in one of their bikinis this season.

How adorable is this shift dress?

And the perfect tunic to throw on with white pants....

You know my obsession with linen pants...

And their men's swimwear  is AWESOME...I can totally see Jonathan in these...

Have you been to The Island Company? If so,what is your favorite item?

Spring...I have my eye on you...

We just booked our warm weather vacation for March! Halleluja, I can't wait to get out of here! Julian is at the PERFECT age, to where we might actually enjoy a vacation. I hope to spend many hours building sand castles, going on long walks and playing in the pool. And of course, I must dress the part as stylish mom playing with her child at the pool, right? Here is some of my inspiration...

I am SO loving all things striped this season, and this bikini is adorable...

and so is this!

and a cute coverup is essential...

I could use some updated basics...

obsessed with this Kain Label Tank...

For cool evenings, how adorable is this Patterson Kincaid sweater?

I have a striped maxi dress from last season, and I wore it out! This would be a great replacement...
