Super(model) Mom: Meet Mollie

It's been a while since I have done one of these features! I am so glad to have my dear friend and one inspiring lady, Mollie as our Super Model Mom today.

Mollie and I met back in 2001 when we were both working at Mark Shale on Michigan Avenue. I had started just a few weeks before her, and had the pleasure of training her in on our staff. Both of us were young, eager and excited about our new endeavor and working in the world of fashion. We immediately bonded over the mutual love for Brittany Spears...and you better believe that we both stalked her one afternoon when she was shopping at Anthropologie in the gold coast. Which is still one of my favorite celeb sightings to date :)

Mollie and her husband left Chicago to go work for I was so sad to see her leave, but how could I be upset? She landed THE dream job as a buyer for Bop (the storefront behind Even though we were in different cities, we were always able to meet in NYC during buying trips and enjoy dinner and drinks together! And now, I happen to be living in Mollie's hometown of KC, so I get to see her on her visits home! It's been so fun to see our children grow up and play together. Her kids are GORGEOUS, as you can see.

Many moves and a few jobs later, Mollie and her family are now back in the Chicago area. Mollie juggles a role of Mom, Wife and now Co-Owner of Style Spies (the company I now work for)! Mollie helps style and wardrobe the women of Chicago and the North Shore.

Mollie is a go-getter and is probably one of the hardest working women I know. She is extremely funny, an incredible mom and of course her style is impeccable. She mixes up her wardrobe with classics from J.Crew with edgier items like Alexander Wang. She always accessorizes perfectly with layers of Gorjana baubles and she has quite the shoe and handbag collection. If you want a peek into her closet, click HERE.

Mollie shares with us what inspires her personal style...

1) What is your daily "uniform"

For fall, you will most likely find me in a pair of skinny jeans (my favorites being DL1961), a tank top, a long boyfriend style cardigan, and flats.  If I'm doing more than the preschool run, I'll throw a skinny belt over the cardi to make it a little more polished!  My arm is always loaded with a combination of bracelets (Gorjana's leather wraps + my 'Griffin' simple silver bangle + my grammie's diamond bracelet given to me after she passed).  I also typically layer a couple of necklaces too – my G initial necklace paired with a pendant works well with the cardigan/tank top combo.

2) What/Who inspires your personal style the most?

Originally, I think my Grammie (mentioned above) influenced my style the most.  She was always dressed up, whether going to the grocery store or out to dinner.  She loved a designer handbag and a great pair of shoes (her favorites were Ferragamo), and her favorite place to shop (in her later years) was St John.  She taught me two important things that I now tell my clients:  the value of spending on nice shoes and handbags and then saving elsewhere on your wardrobe, and how important it is to look nice when you walk out of the house.  It's not about impressing everyone else, it's about respecting yourself enough to take a moment and swipe on mascara and take off your sweaty gym clothes before you run an errand.

3) Whose celeb closet would you like to raid?

Oooh that's a toughie.  I think it would be Katie Holmes.  She does dressed 'up' and dressed 'down' really well, and never looks like she's trying too hard.  For the same reasons, Gwyneth Paltrow.  She's. Just. Fab. Can I have two?

4) What item in your closet do you treasure the most?

That's gotta be my first Louis Vuitton handbag.  My husband surprised me with it a few years ago, and I break it out every summer.  It's a limited edition Perforated Speedy 30……..the inside is a gorgeous green suede and it has a little green trim on the outer pockets.  I LOVE it and still get compliments almost daily.  Good job honey!

5) What trend are you most looking forward to this season?

As a lover of flats, I am excited to try out some cap toe flats.  I have my eye on a few pairs….especially loving this sigerson morrison black and silver pair.  It has a hint of a smoking flat, but is still a ballet flat with the cap toe.
6) What are your top 3 budget buys?
 1.  Tank tops - my favorite are the Gap Ribbed Tanks.  They retail at 16.95 but are rarely full price.  I like to have at least 2 white and 2 black on hand, along with army green, navy and grey in terms of best colors.  2.  Blouses – surprisingly, I find that you don't have to spend a lot of money to find a great looking blouse.  Favorites are ones from Old Navy, Forever 21, and H&M.  3.  Costume jewelry & belts -   I love scouring Forever 21 for cheap great jewelry, as well as belts!  I got 3 belts there last spring for a total of $4.80!  I remember the exact total b/c it was so ridiculous!!!!

7) If money was no object, what would you splurge on right now?

This one's easy.  I would love to stock myself up on Christian Louboutins – specifically, patent nude and patent black closed toe platform pumps.  Someday…….

8) What do you most look forward to handing down to your daughter?
Oh my…….so much!  Definitely my designer handbag collection.  I hope to raise her to appreciate a great bag, but also to remember that you have to work for something like that.

9) What is your biggest fashion mistake?
There have been so many!  The trendy girl that I was (am), the late 80's and early 90's had me in huge flannel shirts, mom-ish Gap jeans and big big bangs.  My poor mother, I can't imagine what she was thinking as I left the house!  My freshman year in college I remember in particular wearing a brutal brown corduroy vest from Harolds out to a fraternity party.  It's immortalized in party pics……hilarous.

10) What are your top 3 favorite style blogs to read?

  image via
Aside from YourStyleScout (which will always remain my inspiration to getting into this whole blogging business!), I love the Glitter Guide, Cupcakes and Cashmere, GOOP (not really a style blog, but mostly b/c I love GP and feel like we have a personal relationship, ha), and Beauty Bets.

Thanks Mollie for sharing your fashion inspiration with us! If you live in the Chicago area and need a closet clean out or styling help, email her at or visit her blog Mascara Meets Matchbox.

Super (model) Mom: Meet Andrea

I am so excited to be featuring Andrea on the blog today! She is a mother of 2 (and 1 on the way!) who designs a gorgeous line of children's clothing and accessories called A La Modish. Every piece she makes just oozes cuteness!  Here is a little bit about Andrea and what inspires her...

Grew up:  Texas and Oklahoma
Living:  Lexington, KY for the last 13 years
Family:  Husband--Jeff (married 7 years), Son--Gavin (6), Daughter--Sabrina (almost 4), Daughter--"E." (due this April!)
Graduated:  University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing in 2001
Started sewing:  When my daughter was 6 months old.  Realized that I always wanted to change patterns around to suit my taste and eventually A La Modish was founded!
Passions:  Yard-saling in old neighborhoods, reading fiction books, designing pretty things, watching The Amazing Race, random acts of kindness, and my weekly date night with The Mister.

1.) What is your "uniform" or your daily go-to items?
MAC Viva Glam VI lip gloss is a staple!  I have recently ventured into the realm of liquid eyeliner and am loving it!

2.) Whose style inspires you the most?
The icons of the 1950's, like Ms. Hepburn, definitely inspire my personal style a great deal.  I get really excited when I come across a pair of super fabulous screw-back vintage earrings.

3.) If you could raid one celeb closet, whose would it be?
Probably Angelina's.  I like how she pulls of vintage styles with ease and wears them with such confidence.  Remember that emerald green gown with the shoulder pads? Love!

4.) if money were no object, what would you like to splurge on at this moment?
A super-couture handbag.  Like a really big one with fancy hardware and zippers that slide as smooth as silk.

5.) What is one item in your closet that you will never part with?
My first pair of expensive heels.  I bought them for myself when I landed the job that I'd been working so hard to get.

6.) What are your favorite "budget" items?
I definitely frequent Target for my kids' basics like turtlenecks and tees.  I absolutely love HomeGoods for picking up cool, affordable accessories for my home.

7.) What are your top 3 beauty items you couldn't live without?
My eyebrow pencil.  My nail file.  Dental floss (Does that count as beauty?)

8.) What do you most love to splurge on for your kids?
I admit it.  What I don't spend on myself for shoes anymore, I spend on my daughter.  She's got some NICE shoes that she only wears a few times before she outgrows them.

9.) What trend do you most look forward to for Spring 2012?
As I am a vintage-lover at heart, I tend to stay away from trends and stick with classics.  But for THIS coming spring, I'll just be excited to get out of maternity clothes :)

10) What are your top 3 favorite style blogs to read?
Well, Scout-a mom's guide to stylish living is certainly at the top!  Thank you for combing the world over for good fashion so we don't have to!

Thank you Andrea! I am excited to NOT be wearing maternity clothes soon too!

Super(model) Mom: Meet Darby!

If you live in Kansas City, you most likely have heard of Darby Brender. She is the adorable face (and, ahem...incredible body) behind Fusion Fitness. Darby was nominated by another local KC reader who had nothing but wonderful things to say about her. Darby has not only started a fitness empire here in Kansas City, but she is also a mom to 2 gorgeous children. Needless to say, she is one busy mama!

And how cute is she?! Working it for the cover of their new Fusion Fitness DVD...
Darby is changing women's bodies in Kansas City on a daily basis. I know many girls that currently workout there and they all look phenomenal!  According to Darby: "We have developed a system that will transform your body by elongating your muscles, decreasing body fat, improving cardiovascular endurance as well as increase flexibility." If you don't live in Kansas City, but you are curious about Fusion, you can now order their DVD. Click HERE for more details.

Darby has so kindly (in all her spare time :) ) answered our style questionnaire. Thanks Darby for participating and giving us some insight into your personal style!

I am so lucky that my uniform is very easy & comfortable. I wear lulu lemon run Capri's, a lulu lemon tank, & a lulu lemon hoodie.  Adidas or Nike sneakers & a pony tail. I almost never wear "street" clothes, in fact it is so rare, one day I picked my daughter up from school in my denim & a cute top & she asked me who's clothes I had on. Guess that is a sign I need to get out of the spandex more often!

Cameron Diaz.  She has a great casual & sporty look that is always well accessorized with trendy sunglasses, natural make up & minimal jewelry.  She has a very classy look when it's time to dress-up.  I love her look @ Paris Fashion week, in a black & white polka dot Dior dress.

Undoubtedly, I would swap closets with any stylish celebrity, can you imagine? If I could raid any closet, I would get into my Grandmothers closet in the 60's. Heels, to jewelry, furs & dress suits.  She had it dialed in to the last detail. The classy style for women during the 60's was glamorous. Always excited to see this 60's look resurface, I have named this look, Vintage-Glam.  On occasion I will wear some of Grandma June's jewelry or fur, it feels good!

Neon!  Everyone is showing neon colors.  I love the bright pops of pinks, yellows, & blues.  These colors compliment my skin tones & make me happy.

Presently, I am am into cute bracelets & bangles.  I am always looking for unique beaded, leather, & metal bracelets to pile on my wrist, usually these items are budget friendly!

My clarisonic- I love the way it makes my skin feel so soft & smooth.  "Perfekt"  Mascara- when I put it on right, people always ask if i have false lashes one... nope, just a whole tube of mascara. Nars lip gloss- it adds a pop of color & makes me feel "finished"

My Baldwin Denim.  Love them, they fit my body the best & hold up great.   Always looking forward to see what new items they make to add to my growing  collection.

Rocco Handbag by Alexander Wang - My friend walked into the studio with the new navy & silver hand bag & I was instantly obsessed!

I feel like all the fashion trends I loved as a kid have recently resurfaced.  The return of leg warmers has been extremely exciting & fun.  I love the feeling of youth & gracefulness I gain from slipping on a pair of leg warmers.  I have also embraced the return of jumpers. Summer BBQ's & pool parties are the perfect venue to bring out these one piece wonders.  The jumpers with fun color blocks & bright designs catch my eye.

WOW, it has almost destroyed my fashion sense. The lack of time to style watch , go shopping, & get ready has really put a damper on my love for fashion.  Luckily I have amazing friends who are major players in the fashion arena that keep me on top of the trends. When it comes to fashion, I have become a weekend warrior, always making a point to get dressed up for weekend dates with my husband, who, by the way is total fashion freak.  He shops more than I do & has great style!

Super (model) Mom: Meet Courtney!

Today's Super (model) Mom is Courtney from the blog, A Thoughtful Place. She was nominated by Cassie of Hi, Sugarplum. I am so glad to have now discovered her blog!  It is jam packed with fun decorating ideas and wonderful DIY projects. Here is a little bit about Courtney and her style inspiration...

Courtney is a stay at home mommy in Southern California. Riley, age 5 and Grady, age 3 keep her running in circles. To maintain her sanity, she began A Thoughtful Place one year ago and has fallen in love with the blogging community. Courtney loves all things home related including decorating, entertaining, organization, and DIY projects.

1.) Whose style do you admire most?
I absolutely love Kate Middleton's style. She is classy and perfectly tailored, but always looks feminine and beautiful.

2.) If there is one celebrity closet you would like to raid, whose would it be?
Other than Kate Middleton, I would be pretty fired up if I had access to Sarah Michelle Gellar's closet. She always looks amazing

Sarah Michelle Gellar

3.) What is one item you would love to splurge on right now?
I am slightly obsessed with boots. I have already picked up a couple of pairs for fall, but if I could really go bananas it would be for the Isola Caley Boot. Gorgeous

4.) What are your favorite budget items?
Probably trendy pieces of jewelry from Forever 21 as well as tanks and shirts from Target. While I don't mind spending more on a great pair of jeans that will last me a long time {favorites are Hudsons} I grow tired of trendy tops and like to switch them out easily.

5.) What is one item in your closet that you will always cherish?
When I first met my husband, ten years ago, I was wearing a pale purple tank. Strangely, it is still in style. But no matter what fashion trends come and go, I will always hang onto the top because of the memories it holds.
6.) What is your favorite Fall 2011 trend?
I love a great Maxi skirt and love that they are around for fall. This is a super cute one from Anthropologie

Seamingly Maxi

7.) When it comes to Fashion vs. Home decor, which comes first? Which are you most likely to splurge on?
Without a doubt, my home. I am slightly obsessed with all things home related. Having said that, I am also a sucker for a great dress and fun pair of heels. My husband and I like to get away once a year and I will always splurge on a flirty dress and heels.

8.) What are your top 3 beauty items?
I like to keep things simple. I always felt that the more beauty products you get used to using, the harder it is to be low maintenance! So my three favorites are my smokey eye liner from MAC, Love Nectar lip gloss {MAC}, and my Oil of Olay Foaming Face Wash. Easy and simple!

9.) What is your favorite splurge for your kids?
Hmm. Well, my daughter is going to be sporting some serious Missoni zig zag this fall. I couldn't help myself at Target. We also splurge on a good pair of school shoes from Nordstrom {one great pair versus ten cheaper pairs that she complains about!}. For my son, I love a great Janie and Jack rugby shirt. He just looks so darn cute in them. Other than that, it's Target all the way!

10.) Top 3 favorite style blogs
1. Schue Love: I love her adorable Friday's Fancies Posts
2. The Chloe Conspiracy: Doesn't get any cuter.
3. Brooklyn Blonde: Great outfit inspiration

Thank you Courtney for letting us know what inspires you!

Super(model) Mom: Meet Megan

Meet Megan, from a favorite blog of mine, Honey We're Home. She was nominated by the last Super Model Mom I featured, Lili from Swanky Chic Fete.

Megan is an adorable Mom who lives in Houston with her husband and son James. She blogs about fabulous DIY home projects, organization and decor. You may remember me posting pics of her closet? Ahhhhh, could you die?!

Thanks to Megan for participating in Super Model Mom and give us insight into her personal style!

1.) What is your "uniform" most days?

Now that's is summer in Houston and the temperatures are 100+ degrees, you'll mostly find me in short shorts (never thought I'd wear those again!), a tank top, and flip flops or wedge sandals.  I feel naked without my Michael Kors watch.

2.) Who inspires you the most?

On a persona level, I'd say Oprah Winfrey.  Her honesty, integrity, and intention to fulfill her life's purpose by being guided by divine inspiration is contagious.

3.) If you could raid one celebrity closet, whose would it be?

Probably Jenifer Aniston.  I love her simple, well-tailored wardrobe.

4.) Favorite splurges?

I will splurge on a handbag or shoes that I know I'll get a lot of use out of.  I have a LouisVuitton wallet that I absolutely love that I've been using for about 3 years now- it was a birthday gift from my husband.

5.) Favorite budget items?

Mossimo tank tops and shorts from Target!

6.) What item in your closet do you cherish the most?

My engagement and wedding ring- absolutely spectacular and so sentimental that my hubby surprised me by having them custom made.

7.) If you could bring back one fashion trend from the past, what would it be?

I'd say bell-bottoms and really tall wedge shoes, but I think they are already back!

8.) How has becoming a mom changed your personal style?

My style has evolved as my body has changed!  But now that my son is nearly a year and a half old, I'm thankfully able to wear my pre-pregnancy clothes again and loving it.  I don't believe in dressing frumpy because I'm a mom, I like to dress up and wear cute clothes that show (at least a little) how hard I've worked for my figure!  I like halter tops that show my shoulders or pants/dresses that highlight a slim waist.

9.) If money was no object, what would you love to purchase right now?

hmmm, I had to do some research on this one.  In a fantasy world, the Tiffany Keys Kaleidoscope key pendant is pretty cool!

10.) What are your top 3 favorite style blogs?
Veronika's Blushing
La Dolce Vita

Super(model) Mom: Meet Susan

Susan was my very first friend in Kansas City. I was working at a high-end baby store at the time, and she happened to come in with her 2 boys. We started chatting; come to find out we had both just moved to K.C. (her from Seattle, me from Chicago). In just the few minutes that we spoke, I could tell there was something special about her. I mustered up the nerve to give her one of my personal calling cards and sure enough, she called!!!! We met for drinks, and the rest is history...

Susan is one of the most beautiful women I know...inside and out. She has a heart of gold, an infectious laugh, and the most positive attitude. You can't help but be lifted up every time you are around her.

Susan is the mother to 2 handsome boys, Luke and Willie and her beautiful daughter Eve. Susan is a Super Mom because she essentially is a full-time, 1 woman band. Her husband travels frequently and is currently working on his M.B.A. I give her so much credit, she somehow keeps her household running perfectly and all while doing it herself. I know she is counting down the days until her hubby graduates in May...only a few short months!!!

And a Happy (Belated) Birthday to you Susan, I hope it was a fabulous one. Love you!

Here is what inspires Susan....
What is your uniform?
1) My uniform would definitely have to be a pair of Gap "long & lean" jeans, or more recently this past winter, a pair of AG super-skinny jeggings. I usually pair these with a loose fitting blouse or cow neck sweater. Having had 4 kids in 7 years, I'm working my way back to the slimmer me, excited to do the more fitted, sweaters, tops and tanks!

Who inspires your style?
2) Who doesn't love Audrey Hepburn and Sophia Loren? I'd like to think there's some of these ladies in me somewhere - but really, I feel my style is mostly influenced by the women in my life - the gals closest to me which I share conversation and spend time with. It just seems inevitable that these close relationships should play out in my fashion sense....

If you could raid the closet of one celeb, who would it be?
3) The celebrity closet I would most like to raid is Jennifer Aniston. I find her style to be ideal - I love her classic clean lines and the casual freshness she always exudes. Also, I can't go without mentioning J Lo. Her style touches on ultra feminine and very chic!

What are your favorite beauty items?
4) My latest beauty item would have to be mascara, Mac's "Haute & Naughty Lash" (who comes up with these names??). It adds just the right amount of drama I'm looking for.

I'm also sooooo fortunate to have access to the most elite make-up artists in Kansas City!!

I'm also in love with my Stella and Dot sterling silver diamond hoop earrings - they're the perfect stand-in, and can go with just about anything. I'm always in search of really good skin care.

Right now, I'm loving my Glo·Therapeutics Oil Free SPF40 Sunscreen, it literally disappears in less than minute of application.

What are your favorite budget items?
5) Favorite budget items would have to be anything from Forever 21 or Target!

If you could splurge on one item this season, what would it be?

6) I can only DREAM it would be a birthday surprise from my hubby this year - a Chole' Ethel medium sachel!...LOL....Its timeless and oh sooo pretty. (ok, wake me up now!)

Top three places to shop for your kids?
7) Top 3 places to shop for my little monkeys would be Target, Gap, and Gymboree.

Top three places to shop for yourself?
8) Top 3 places to shop for myself would have to be Anthroplogie, Nordstrom, and WHBM (White House / Black Market)

What item would you like to pass down to your daughter?
9) Hmmm, what would I pass down to my daughter? - that's a good one! Well, I currently don't own any vintage jewelry, furs or super keepsakes. So, keeping it real, I would say...really great morals and a love for God!

What is your biggest fashion mistake?10) I dare not share a photo on this one, but my biggest fashion mistake was my big ole' Chaka Khan permed hairdo from the 80's! Watch out! It may come back?!!!!

Super(model) Mom: Meet Christina

I was so thrilled when Christina, author of the blog Full House decided to participate in my Super(model) Mom feature. She is inspiring to me in so many ways!

Saying Christina is a busy woman is a bit of an understatement. She is a mom to triplets AND twins, yes, it's true!!!! On top of that she writes her beautiful blog and finds time to decorate her home and tackle some big DIY projects. If you haven't seen her daughter's rooms, you should click HERE.

Here is a little bio in Christina's words...

You know the saying.."When it rains it pours"...Well that pretty much sums up the last 5 years of my life.

About a decade ago I was sitting at my desk working for Goldman Sachs in Menlo Park, CA and wondered if I would ever have kids. After trying to conceive for a solid five years we decided to go the adoption route and within a month we were picked to adopt a little boy...only to find out we were pregnant with twins at the same time. I remembered really struggling at making the decision as to whether the little baby was meant to come into our home. In the end we didn't feel like it was the route out family should take and so we excitedly started to prepare for our girls. I remember thinking after I had them, "I am so glad that this is only twins and not triplets". Little did I know what I had in store. I will never forget the day the ultrasound technician delivered the news of three babies being in my belly less than 2 years after the girls came. I would be lying if I said I had any bit of excitement. Needless to say it took me a month before I could share the news with others because it after all was a blessing but I needed a little time to make peace with what was about to transpire. Pretty much in a nutshell I went from having no kids to five kids in 2.5 years. It has been intense but also fun, blessed and a refining experience.

I started a blog as a nice little diversion to focus on the fun and happy things in life. I sort of joke that blogging has been my anti-depressant (I often have people ask me if I have to take any sort of substances:-) I've always had a passion for design and decor. My mother can vouch on that because after all she was there on my 3rd birthday when I was more excited about a dress rather than the toys I had been given. From there I moved into trying to redecorate my bedroom often (there may have been a 50's style Mickie Mouse room) and bringing sticks in from the back yard to try and help out all of my Mom's floral arrangements. I have always been good with color and think that it is all about the little details. Another outlet that I have a passion for is finding treasures. I get so much satisfaction from making something look pretty on a budget. I have been known to drag my boys around on my thrifting adventures.

I love, love, love being a Mom and think it is the best calling in life.

and here is a peek into what inspires Christina...

1) What is your "uniform"

I am the most random dresser. I go through spurts of wearing dresses and skirts. Lately my favorite go to outfit is black leggings with a white or grey shirt and my Frye boots.

2) How has becoming a mom changed how you dress?

Before becoming a Mom I worked for Goldman Sachs & I dressed up every single day so you could imagine that it changed a bit after the kids came. I do have to say that I try hard not to let all of my old cloths waste away in my closet so there are days that I probably over dress for being a Mom of 5 young children..Oh well.

3) what fashion item would you like to splurge on for 2011?
A nice pair of good fitting wide-legged jeans. I honestly only own a few pair and a couple of them are very outdated.

4) When it comes to Fashion vs. Home Decor, which are your more passionate about?
This is something that certainly changed after becoming a Mom and spending more time at hands down home decor.

5) What are your favorite budget items?
L'Oreal Voluminous mascara, Cetaphil Moisterizing Cream, and that next purchase I am going to make at TJ Maxx, Home Goods or Marshalls:-) ( I buy so many of my articles of clothing or home decor from these joints). Did I mention that I use Suave hairspray..because I do..I don't recommend that one though because my hairdresser told me I had bad hairspray flakes.

6) What are your top 3 favorite beauty items?
Good hair conditioner (Kerastase, Terax or Goldwell) , good moisterizer (Cosmedicine), and loving L'Oreal Secrets Professional Secret No. 1 Magic Perfecting Base.

7) Who inspires you the most?
A woman who celebrates being a woman and mother. One who is strong, kind, driven and loving. The woman who embodies this the most to me is my Grandma. She has since passed but continues to inspire me so much that even to this day when I am down or am looking for direction I think of her example. I want to be a better person because of her.

Would you have laughed if I would have said Octo-Mom..hahaha

8) What is your favorite item you have purchased for your kids?

My Vita Mix. I can not tell you how in love I am with this machine and it is not just for the kids but bought it with them in mind. It is an investment but whenever I need to make-up for my kids lack of nutrition in their diet I make a magic smoothie with greens and flax but cover it all up with a cherry juice concentrate and other fruits. Makes me so happy. Plus did I tell you it makes soup and even warms it up from the powerful motor.
Also I have never regretted any stroller purchase or zoo/museum pass. If I said it was a pillow pet then I would be lying..We got three purple unicorns for Christmas and I want to huck a couple of them out the window.

9) If you could raid one celebrity closet, who would it be?
I am not up on fashion but I do know that I have always love Gwyneth Paltrow's style. There are quite a few fashion bloggers that I would like to raid their closets though.

10) What item in your closet makes you the most happy?
My collection of vintage dresses...oh and a vintage 70's Gucci leather coat with tiger head hardware.

Super(model) Mom: Meet Erica

I am so thrilled to be featuring Erica (one of my blog idols) from Moth Design, Little Moth and Luxe Life. Her blogs are just jam packed full of beautiful inspiration...everything from home decor, to fashion and kids room decor.

I am not sure how she manages to tend to 3 blogs, but she really does! And on top of that she is a single mom to 5 boys...YES, 5 BOYS!  Aged 17, 13, 15, 10 and 2 1/2.

Between tending to her Hockey Team (heee hee, just kidding, Erica) and also going through an entire home renovation (which has been a 3 year process) She has kept herself VERY, very busy. Erica is also a trained interior designer and has been in the industry for over 10 years. She also comes to us from Canada, and I love hearing about some of her resources that we don't have here in the states.

I was excited to read her answers, and you will love them...she is such a classy lady and I have to hand it to her. She has raised these gorgeous boys and doesn't look a day over 20. Thanks Erica for participating and giving us a sneak peek into what inspires you...

1. What's your "uniform" or go-to outfit?
My daily go-to outfit consists of J Crew signature black leggings + top and what ever foot wear is in season. It's just easy and comfortable.
2. Who's closet would you raid if you had the chance?
If I had the chance to raid someone's closet it would definitely be the set closet for gossip girl (does that count??) That would be a dream come true.
3. What inspires you?
Inspiration is a funny thing, and of course I find inspiration in my kids (I'm supposed to say that right?) But, if I were to explain where creative inspiration comes from I'd say it lies in the every day mundane. A beautiful button on a shirt, packaging, the shades and hues found in nature, etc...
4. What would you like to splurge on this spring?
I would LOVE to splurge on some Brian Atwood pumps.
5. Worst fashion mistake?
That's one of a personal nature... cutting my hair short. Awful! Two words: Frizz Bomb. Oh.. and overalls in the 90's.

6. How has becoming a mom affected your fashion choices?
Being a mom meant accepting that I can't wear heels everyday. I've caved in the last few years and bought a generous selection of flats to compensate for the sting of giving up heels. I also got in the habit of always wearing off white Ts when I had newer babies to hide the 'spit-up crust shoulder'. Happy to say I can wear black again.

7. What are your favorite beauty items?
Nars 'Penny Lane' blush, Bobby Brown shadows, mascara and lip gloss/balm.

8. What item in your closet do you love the most?
Maybe not the answer you were looking for, but I'd have to say the feature wall. It trumps any delight procured by clothing.
9. What are your favorite budget items?
I'm always impressed with Joe, a line carried at Real Canadian Super Store.
10. What favorite item did you splurge on for your kids?
Favourite kids splurge would definitely be my smallest son's burberry coat and uggs. He can be wearing PJs underneath but he looks polished on top.

Thanks for having me Melanie! xo
